Cyber Defender Teaching Assistant Summer 2016

• Improved the security posture of LLNL’s supercomputing facility by deploying a host-based intrusion detection system, OSSEC, to several service-based systems
• Developed custom, real-time alerts that email the security team upon finding potential security risks
• Collaborated with a technical team to identify, resolve, and mitigate vulnerabilities on several service-based systems
• Developed custom queries and dashboards in Splunk to parse OSSEC logs and provide visibility into the security status of several systems
• Participated in the Cyber Defender Course: International Efforts to Control Cyber Space

Cyber Defender Computation Intern Summer 2015

• Conducted research on Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and developed a program in Python that filters out SNMP packets
• Completed numerous cyber security challenges and penetration testing activities

• Used forensic tools including Forensic Tool Kit (FTK) for data recovery
• Set up a network on Linux and Windows for security testing and performed risk and vulnerability assessment on that network
• Developed a security tool that measures the strength of passwords and highlight their vulnerabilities
